Some commonly asked questions

What age can I play football?
Auskick is available for children aged 5 - 8 years. Your child must be turning 5 before 30th June. This means any child in Pre- Primary to Year 3 can play Auskick.
No Kindy aged children are allowed to play.

Modifieds football is available for children aged 9 - 12 years. This is Year 4 - Year 7 children which play a modified rules version of football.

Open Rules is available for children aged 13 - 17 years. This is for Year 8 - Year 12 children which play Open rules football. (Same as watching the AFL)

Where do we play football?
Auskick is played at Kingsbridge Reserve, Butler

Modifieds and Open Rules play at various ovals in the West Perth District. Our home ground is Kingsbridge Reserve, Butler. The clubs we play against range from Yanchep to Whitfords.

What teams do you play?
There are several clubs in the West Perth District. These clubs are Yanchep, Quinns Districts, Joondalup/Kinross, Edgewater/Woodvale, Ocean Ridge, Whitfords and Wanneroo.

Do we need a uniform?
Uniform is not a requirement for Auskick, however you are free to wear the club shorts and socks. These are available for sale on Registration Day.

Uniform is required for Modifieds and Open Rules. This includes the club shorts, socks, football boots and mouthguards. Football guernseys are provided by the club to wear.

What can I wear?
Auskick can wear tshirts, shorts or trackpants. Football guernseys are supplied by the club to wear on the day.
Modifieds and Open Rules must wear full uniform. This includes club shorts, socks, football boots and mouthguards.

What are Brighton Seahawks club colours?
Royal Blue, Yellow and Teal.

How long is the season?
Season 2011 is 16 weeks.

What time do we play football?
Auskick starts at 11:30pm - 1:00pm every Sunday
Modifieds play at various times. See below.
Year 4 - 8:30am
Year 5 - 8:30 am
Year 6 - 10:00 am
Year 7 - 10:00 am
Open Rules - Under 13's - 11:30 am

When and where do we train?
Training for all Modifieds and Open Rules is on Wednesday's and Friday's at Kingsbridge Reserve, BUTLER.
Times are to be confirmed shortly after registration day

How much does it cost to play?
Auskick is $110
Modifieds is $130
Open Rules is $135

How can I pay my fees?

When do I pay my fees?
We like fees to be paid on Registration Day or ASAP.
ALL FEES MUST BE PAID BY ROUND 5 - 13TH MAY 2012


What do my fees include?
Brighton Seahawks Membership, Player insurance, Team Photo, Trophy (modiffieds and open rules), Medallion (auskick), Auskick Pack (auskick), Umpire fees.

Are there any weekly fees?
No. Unless you want to buy a yummy hotdog or hamburger from our canteen !!!!!

Can I play for Brighton Seahawks if I have played for another club?
Yes. A clearance is required to play with Brighton Seahawks if you have played Modifieds or Open Rules before with another club.

Do the coaches have qualifications?
Yes. All our coaches attend coaching courses held by the West Perth Football Association. All coaches must have Coaching Accreditations to coach with Brighton Seahawks.

Do you need helpers?
YES!!!!  Brighton Seahawks love parent helpers. We are all volunteers so as many hands on deck as possible makes the club run smoothly.
You are more than welcome to put your hand up to help coach, umpire, work in the canteen, join our fundraising team, sponsor the club, be a water runner, goal umpire, boundary umpire or jump on the committee!

Do you have a Parent/Spectator Code of Conduct?
Yes.
  • Encourage children to participate, if there are interested.
  • Encourage children to always participate according to the rules.
  • Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
  • Remember that children learn best from example. Applaud good plays by all teams.
  • If you disagree with an official, raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than questioning the official's judgement and honesty in public.
  • Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
  • Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches.
  • Remember that children play organised sports for fun. They are not playing for the entertainment of spectators only, nor are they minature professionals.
  • Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, offiicials or players.
  • Encourage players to follow the rules and the umpire's decisions.
  • Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not useing foul language, harassing players, coaches or umpires.
